Maharishi Ayur-veda

What is Maharishi Ayur-veda?

Maharishi Ayur-veda is based on the same basic principles of Ayurvedic medicine, and Maharishi Ayur-veda just adapts from it. Maharishi Ayur-vedda is the more modern version, brought back to life and incorporated with Western knowledge to better achieve health and well-being.

What is the history of Maharishi Ayur-veda?

Ayurvedic medicine began centuries ago as an Indian healing form of medicine. Throughout the years, it slowly began to fade in its popularity. Whether the understanding was lost, the effort, whatever, it was rarely practiced anymore. This changed when Maharishi Mahesh Yogi (who is the founder of Transcendental Meditation), along with many Ayurvedic doctors, revived the ancient form of medicine.

Shortly thereafter, they introduced it to the West, as it had mostly been practiced in India and other Eastern countries.

Instead of just introducing this old form of health, Maharishi Yogi followed the basic medical texts and incorporated his newly created form of Transcendental Meditation into the equation as well. With meditation and traditional Ayurvedic medicine combined, it creates a form of healing that places equal emphasis on the mental, emotional and behavioral factors of the body, and follows the belief that these factors all have an equal effect on the body’s health.

What does Maharishi Ayur-veda consist of?

Following the basic principles of Ayurvedic medicine, which you can find out more about here, Maharishi Ayur-veda applies four comprehensive approaches to illness: physiology, consciousness, environment and behavior. All of these factors are considered by the Maharishi Ayur-veda doctor before any treatment begins.
